River

We took a quick trip to Enterprise this weekend for my family reunion. The weather was beautiful and we took some time to play in the dry river bed, throw rocks and generally have fun. :) There were rapids to see...

water to wade in...

footprints to examine...

like these...these were from a raccoon!

I think Scott's favorite part of our adventure was getting to hold Levi's hand for a long time.

It doesn't happen very often. ;) But Levi seemed to like it, too...

Don't Let This Sweet Face Fool You

There's a lot going on in there. Some sweetness. Some rot. Some purity. Some deviance. And it changes so much every day. He's growing up way too fast. I'm just glad I'm along for the ride.

Some recent conversations:

"Hey, Mommy. When I was a wittle boy at Nanny's house, I just went to the garden and there was a dinosaur and he smushed me all up."

(Talking about a dream) "Yesterday, I was just screaming because that bunny rabbit was chasing me."

"I wanna go to the boy haircut pwace" after being forced to get a haircut with Mommy. Afterwards, crying and begging not to have his "eye-bwows waxed" like Mommy. :)

We are constantly learning the distinction between "big boy" toys and "baby" toys. If it's a toy Levi wants, it's a "big boy" toy and Shiloh can't have it. If it's a "baby" toy being played with by Shiloh, it clearly needs to move back into the realm of "big boy" toy. Characterizations are fluid, right?

I can hardly believe he'll be four years old in two shorts months. Where did all the time go?

Sweet Big Brother

I decided it was time to donate some time to praising my first-born for being such a great big brother to his little sister. I took this picture of him reading one of his favorite Barney books to Shiloh over the weekend. Was she listening? Who knows. But maybe she'll remember the little things Levi did for her when she was young.

Of course, Levi has had some experience at being a big brother before. Although he probably doesn't remember much about the short, sweet time we had with his brother Aaron a couple of years ago, he was an excellent big brother to him, too.

Giving kisses...

And sweet pats...

And MORE sweet (restrained) pats. ;)

We're so thankful for his sweet spirit with his siblings. And his pride at being a big brother to Aaron and Shiloh. He DOES know that we have "Baby Shiloh" here and "Baby Aaron" in heaven. For that, we are so very glad. :)
