Personal and a Prodigy

Blogging is becoming a bit more natural to me. To be honest, I began blogging as a sort of way to scrapbook a bit or create a family album to look through as years pass. I am not naturally "artsy craftsy" and the thought of scrapbooking (as some see it) leaves me feeling inept. I am not good with scissors, glue or photo albums. I am not creative. Photos from our wedding and from the births of Levi and Aaron have yet to make it into a scrapbook or album of any kind.

Although our blog is primary to preserve happenings in the Hill life, I may occasionally feel led to make entries that are more personal or thoughtful in nature. I am not promising anything profound, and I will not always pretend that life is perfect. So I hope no one will be disappointed. On that note, I did read today that the Obama administration is totally into Coke products. That was a bit of a relief. There may be hope for our country after all. :)

Getting back to the Hills, this photo was taken last night while Levi was brushing up on his G major scales. It is so refreshing to have borne a musical prodigy.

Just joking. It's a good thing pictures don't playback sound. But he's sure cute to watch.

Heard Around Our House

There were many interesting conversations amongst the Hills this weekend. First:

Levi(after finishing his dessert): Mommy, I need more. (pause) I need more now.

Second, Scott and I were industrious yesterday afternoon, continuing to hang things on the wall at home. After some precise measuring, tons of mental math (done by Scott, not me), this could be heard:

(WHAM, WHAM, WHAM)
Scott: Gosh, this must be a strong stud.
(WHAM, WHAM, WHAM)
Me: What are you hitting?
Scott: I don't know (walks into the garage to look on the other side of the wall). There's nothing back there.
(WHAM, WHAM, WHAM)
Me: Oh, no. The pocket door...
Scott: Oh, no. (Feverishly pulls out nail and a chunk of sheetrock).

Round and Round we go

Getting ready for bed for most 2 year olds consists of taking a bath, brushing your teeth, story time and prayers. But with Levi, you have to throw in one more thing. And of course, you have to have an audience.....NOTE: pay no attention to the person saying GO FASTER GO FASTER. I don't know who that is. (this was posted by Aunt Christi)

A Very Special Birthday

Today, we celebrate the birthday of a very special boy. It hardly seems like it has been a year since Aaron was born. We are so thankful for each day we had with him here on earth and look forward to the day when we see him again. Happy Birthday, Aaron!

Money Well Spent

What does it look like?

Not this...

Taking Levi to the rodeo was not a good idea. What with the sudden pitch black darkness, exploding cannon (is that really necessary?), laser lights, fireworks, overly loud announcer and music...he was much happier walking around in the livestock barns!

At least we got to go enjoy some pizza afterwards.

And a hug with daddy!

KWAZY or WITTLE?

Recent conversations with Levi continue to crack me up. This morning, were were driving to school and passed the Reservoir YMCA. Parked out front nearly every day are five brightly-colored buses. Levi loves them because...well...they're buses. As we drove by this morning, this was our conversation:

Levi: Mommy, see dose buses?!!
Me: I did see them...did you?
Levi: Yeah! I see em. (pause) Mommy, buses is kwazy.
Me: (pause) They're crazy?
Levi: No, dey not kwazy...dey wittle.

Reflecting on our conversation and the origin of the word "crazy" in his vocabulary, I've decided that my son has picked up on the word "crazy" from watching me dry my hair in the mornings. I will often say (or Scott will) that my hair is crazy because it is quite large most of the time. So, Levi apparently thinks crazy=big. I guess we need to work on finding some better adjectives to describe my hair.
